Mech Arm Sleeve

Artist: Russ Abbott

Kaelan came to us with a unique vision: he wanted his right arm transformed into a realistic "cyberpunk prosthetic." While Russ Abbott hadn't previously worked in this style, we knew his extensive experience with ornamental and geometric designs—especially those that create 3D illusions—would make him an ideal artist for the project. Russ began with a thorough consultation, reviewing examples of “mech” style artwork and tattoos.

He watched multiple YouTube compilations of iconic mech films to understand how the aesthetic has evolved, incorporating client-supplied reference material that helped shape specific design elements. After gathering references and researching, Russ started sketching concepts on his iPad using a 3D model of a human arm from our sister company, Tattoo Smart. As the design took shape in 3D, Russ and Kaelan collaborated on a phased approach, layering the work to achieve the finished, healed result showcased in the images below.
