Cortney Norton grew up surrounded by an artistic family, with a love of painting and illustration, and knew early on that she would pursue a professional art career. Despite her passion, she had no idea she would ultimately turn her focus to tattooing until she accompanied a friend to get a tattoo, where she fell in love immediately and began working toward an apprenticeship.
Cortney began tattooing in 2015, and her variety of work environments, colleagues, and artistic influences allowed her to clarify exactly the kind of tattoo studio home she wanted to settle in long-term. After working at Ink & Dagger Tattoo as a temporary resident artist, Cortney knew she had found an ideal community of talented, passionate colleagues and clients in a supportive, inspiring environment.
Cortney loves to combine her education in fine art technique and art history with the craft of tattooing, finding an aesthetic niche that allows her to express herself creatively and make beautiful tattoos for her clients. She loves doing Art Nouveau and Art Deco inspired tattoos, especially ones that feature floral and botanical themes and natural subjects like animals and insects. By combining bold color with ornamental linework, Cortney focuses on giving each of her clients incredible tattoos that will stand the test of time.
When she is not tattooing, Cortney can usually be found drawing, playing board games and going to musicals with her partner, and hanging out with her tiny, orange puppy, Clementine.
